Kenya – General Elections – Possible Scenarios
On 8 August, Kenyans will be faced with the choice to either extend President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s second four-year term, or give former Prime Minister Raila Odinga a chance to lead the nation, on his fourth attempt. Unlike in 2007, the 2013 elections were relatively peaceful despite some tensions. Yet many analysts still agree that elections remain a potential source of violence in Kenya. The upcoming polls therefore hold high stakes for the nation’s security and stability.
